Police investigating after woman found with head injury in Whitby

Police were alerted at around 6.45am on Thursday 14 August 2014, after a 45-year-old woman was found suffering from a head injury on Henrietta Street in Whitby.

She has been airlifted to James Cook Hospital in Middlesbrough, where her injuries are described as life-threatening.

The woman's injuries are being treated as unexplained at this time and officers are investigating the circumstances surrounding the incident.

The area around the 199 steps has been cordoned off and officers would like to thank the public for their patience while they complete their enquiries at the scene.

Update 4.40pm Thursday 14 August 2014: Police investigating after a 45-year-old woman was found suffering from a head injury in Whitby this morning (14 August 2014) have removed the cordon in the area around the 199 steps.

Officers are continuing to investigate how she sustained her injuries, however there are not believed to be any suspicious circumstances.

The woman remains in James Cook Hospital in Middlesbrough. Her injuries are no longer believed to be life-threatening.
