Detectives investigating the death of a 32-year-old Whitby man have charged a woman with his murder.
Rebecca Dormer, aged 22, was arrested following an incident at Spring Hill Court on Friday 22 February 2013.
Officers were granted more time to question her and she was charged today. (Monday 25 February 2013).
Dormer, of Spring Hill Court, Whitby, appeared at Scarborough Magistrates' Court to answer the murder charge this afternoon.
She has been remanded in custody and will reappear at Leeds Crown Court on Wednesday 27 February 2013.
A 24-year-old man who was also arrested in connection with the incident has been released without further police action.
The police are now able to identify the victim. He has been named as Gareth Bryan Matthews, aged 32, of Spring Hill Court, Spring Hill, Whitby.

This is a brief update in relation to the murder investigation into the death of a 32-year-old man in Whitby last night (Friday 22 February 2013)
The two people who were arrested in connection with his death, a woman aged 22 and a man aged 24, remain in police custody for questioning.
A scene guard remains in place at Spring Hill Court, however the road (Spring Hill) reopened at around 12.20pm.
North Yorkshire Police appreciates and acknowledges the public's cooperation during the road closure which enabled officers to carry out detailed searches in the vicinity of the property.

North Yorkshire Police are carrying out a murder investigation into the death of a Whitby man on Friday 22 February 2013.
Police were called to a domestic disturbance by the ambulance service at 11.25pm, following reports that a 32-year-old man had suffered serious chest injuries.
Officers attended the scene of the incident at a property in Spring Hill Court, Whitby, where sadly the man was pronounced dead by ambulance staff a short time later.
A 22-year-old woman and a 24-year-old man have been arrested in connection with the incident and are currently in police custody for questioning.
A scene guards remains in place as police continue their investigations into the man's death. The road has also been closed in the area of the property as officers carry out searches as part of the investigation.
