The Filey, Eastfield and Scarborough Rural Safer Neighbourhoods area covers a wide diversity of communities. The team is led by Inspector Leo Suret , and split into three areas:

The Filey Team covers Blue Dolphin, Cayton, Filey, Folkton, Flixton, Gristhorpe, Hunmanby, Killerby, Lebberston, Osgodby, Primrose Valley, Reighton, Reighton Gap, Reighton Sands and Speeton.

The Eastfield Team covers the Eastfield estate.

The Rural Team covers Brompton by Sawdon, Burniston, Broxa, Cloughton, Crossgates, East Ayton, Hackness, Harwood Dale, Hutton Buscel, Irton, Langdale End, Mowthorpe, Ravenscar, Ruston, Sawdon, Scalby, Seamer, Silpho, Snainton, Staintondale, Suffield, West Ayton, Wrench Green, Wykeham.

The police officers, staff and wider police family serving the Filey SNT are committed to making this an even safer place to live and work by building safer and stronger communities. In particular we are encouraging and supporting the growth of Neighbourhood Watch schemes, We currently have over 200 coordinators. These are fundamental to developing a stronger community spirit within neighbourhoods and in the new year we hope to expand the number of volunteers who are prepared to support Filey SNT in other roles.

We will continue to work with our communities and partners to target the criminals and restrict their ability to commit crime in the Filey, Eastfield and Rural areas. Working with Scarborough Borough Council we are also focusing efforts on those who commit acts of anti-social behaviour. We regularly carry out joint work with Safer Communities, Yorkshire Coast Homes, Sanctuary Housing, both Pindar and Filey senior schools, local councils, Youth Services and have had a number of excellent results.

Safer Neighbourhoods has introduced Police Community Support Officers (PCSOs) on the beat and the increased visible presence has enabled the public to communicate with us more about issues where they live and work.

We are also seeking to attract those volunteers who wish to become a Special Constable. After initial training you will be able to select which beat you would like to police. I know anti-social behaviour can have a real impact on residents' quality of life and tackling this is a key priority for the Filey SNT. I would encourage you as members of your community to make us aware of your issues by speaking to Officers, PCSOs, any of our partner agencies or using the anti-social behaviour line, which will give us the opportunity to take action on your behalf.

I would also like to emphasize the achievements of my team, who together with our communities and partners have reduced overall crime by 8.5% in 2006-7 and a further 10% in 2007-8. This success has come from proactive work in targeting those who are responsible for crime in the area.

Also, organisations in Eastfield can now apply for funds as part of the 2010 Voice Your Choice campaign.
