York South Safer Neighbourhood Area

Insp Colin Moreton

Welcome to the York South Safer Neighbourhood Team page.

My name is Colin Moreton and I am the Safer Neighbourhood Inspector for the south of York. I joined the North Yorkshire Police in 1988 after serving 12 years in the Army. The majority of my police service has been spent at York although I have also worked at Selby and Tadcaster.

Uniformed policing in York is split into two main groups, the 24/7 response teams and geographically based Safer Neighbourhood Teams.

My Safer Neighbourhood area covers Acomb and Holgate, Bishopthorpe, Fishergate, Fulford and Heslington, Rural West, Westfield, Woodthorpe and Dringhouses, Wheldrake.

To police these areas I have three teams:

Each of the wards is broken down into a number of identified community areas for which PC and PCSOs have specific ownership for engagement and problem solving. Details of my team and their areas are within these pages.
