Welcome to the Craven Rural Safer Neighbourhood Teams page.
The Craven Rural Safer Neighbourhood team covers all of the Craven District area apart from the town of Skipton itself. This is a large area of 450 square miles which constitutes 15% of the area of North Yorkshire, which is itself the largest county in England.
It is divided into four teams based in the towns and villages of Settle, Ingleton, Grassington and Crosshills. Each team is headed by a sergeant with a number of Police constables and Police community support officers. These provide coverage 24 hours a day 365 days a year responding to all manner of incidents but also provide the community involvement at the heart of our modern but traditional policing style.
We work closely with a number of partner agencies such as local parish councils as well as Craven district and North Yorkshire County Council. We have close links with the Yorkshire dales national parks who have a responsibility for a considerable section of the North and Central areas of the district and are continuing to work with them on Green Lane issues as well as wider criminality in the dales area.. We work with the fire and ambulance services especially in road safety which is a principal cause for concern throughout the district. We have also strong links to the local cave and fell rescue organisations in the Craven area.
Our principle areas of focus at this time are safer roads and our continuing efforts to drive Crime levels down even further.
