ACRO provide Police Certificates for the purpose of obtaining visas and similar documents for a number of countries.

The Police (Disposal of Property) Regulations 1975, sets out the ways in which the police can deal with property which comes into their possession, whether this be property recovered from burglaries or items seized as a result of criminal investigations.

North Yorkshire Police has had its headquarters in Newby Wiske Hall, near Northallerton, since 1976.

We are very pleased to report that over the last five years recorded crime in the North Yorkshire area has fallen by 29% when compared to the 2006/07 figure, which is over 15,600 fewer crimes from April 2007 to March 2012 and makes this one of the safest areas in England and Wales. All our planning and efforts have been focussed on achieving results like these.

Under section 6 of the Police Act 1996 (as inserted by new section 6ZB of the Police and Justice Act 2006), before the beginning of each financial year, police authorities and forces are required to issue a Policing Plan setting out the police authority's policing objectives for the policing of its area during the year and the proposed arrangements for the policing of that area for the period of three years beginning with that year.

Stop and search powers allow the police to combat street crime and anti-social behaviour, and prevent more serious crimes.
