Police investigating a serious collision in the Settle area are appealing for witnesses.
An elderly woman sustained serious injuries and was airlifted to hospital as a result of the crash which occurred on the A65 on the junction with Brackenber Lane, which leads to Giggleswick, near to the Craven Arms pub.
At around 11.15am on Friday 1 July, a blue Toyota Auris, travelling from the direction of Giggleswick, was in collision with a white LDV panel van travelling along the A65 from Cumbria towards Skipton.
The passenger in the Auris, a 78-year-old local woman sustained serious chest injuries and was airlifted to Lancaster Royal Infirmary where she remains in a serious condition. Her 83-year-old husband, the driver of the Auris, was taken by road ambulance to Lancaster Royal Infirmary and has since been released.
The passenger in the white panel van, a woman from Cumbria was treated for minor injuries at Airedale District Hospital, the driver of the van, a man in his thirties, also from Cumbria, was uninjured.
Roads Policing Sergeant, Pete Stringer is appealing for witnesses to the collision, he said: "I would like to hear from anyone who was travelling on the A65 near Settle, or Brackenber Lane on Friday morning who witnessed the manner of driving of the white van or the blue Auris prior to the collision.
"Or anyone else who saw the crash happen who has not yet come forward, please contact us as you could have important information which could help the investigation."

The road was closed while collision investigators examined the scene and was reopened just after 5.30pm.
