Scarborough police are investigating after a woman had her iPhone stolen during a night out at a local nightclub.
The victim, a 24-year-old local woman, had left her bag on a table of a seating booth which her and a group of friends were standing next to. When she picked up her bag to leave the club she noticed that her black iPhone 3GS 16GB was missing.
It is believed the theft occurred sometime between 10.30pm on Thursday 30 June and 3.10am on Friday 1 July 2011.
Officers are checking CCTV footage to try and identify the offender and are also asking the public to help with their enquiries.
PC Craig Malia, of Scarborough police, said: "This appears to have been an opportunist theft which has ruined the victim's night out.
"I am appealing to anyone who witnessed the theft which occurred when the club was particularly busy, to get in touch with the police or Crimestoppers with information.
"I would also urge people who are out in bars, pubs and clubs to keep a close eye on their personal belongings."
Anyone who can help the police with their enquiries is urged to contact PC Craig Malia, of Scarborough police, on 0845 60 60 24 7, quoting reference number 12110108587.
