Scarborough minibus collision - vital witness sought

Scarborough police are appealing for a vital witness to come forward after a pedestrian was hit by a minibus on Ramshill Road.

Collision

At around 10.50am on Saturday 16 July 2011, a local man was walking in the direction of Valley Bridge when the wing mirror of a silver minibus hit him on the elbow as it went past.

The minibus failed to stop at the scene of the incident but a witness took down the registration number of the vehicle and handed it to the victim.

Officers are appealing to anyone who witnessed the incident to contact them with information.

Traffic Constable Paul Merritt, of Scarborough Road Policing Group, said: "Fortunately the victim only suffered a minor injury in the collision and is fortunate he wasn't more seriously hurt.

"I am appealing to anyone who witnessed the collision itself or saw the silver minibus prior to the incident to come forward."

The driver of the minibus has been reported for summons on suspicion of careless driving.

Anyone who can help the police with their enquiries is urged to contact TC Paul Merritt, of Scarborough Road Policing Group, on 0845 60 60 24 7, quoting reference number 12110118385.
