Police put suspect in the shade

A 28-year-old man has been charged with theft after stealing £110 worth of sunglasses from a shop in York.

The man was arrested after officers were called to Homesense, at Foss Islands Retail Park, on the afternoon of 21 July 2011.

Staff at the store noticed him allegedly concealing the items in a bag before leaving without offering payment.

Officers attended and arrested the man after a short foot chase.

He is due to appear at York Magistrates' Court on Monday 8 August 2011.
