Detectives in Scarborough are appealing for information following a two-in-one burglary in the town.
A two-in-one burglary is when thieves enter a property to steal car keys before stealing the vehicle.
Between 10.30pm on Monday 25 July and 6.30am on Tuesday 26 July 2011 burglars entered an address on Garfield Road and stole two sets of car keys.
They then stole a red Peugeot 207 and a grey Peugeot 307 parked at the address.
The thieves also took a crocodile skin effect purse, containing bank cards and a small quantity of money.
The Peugeot 207 was found abandoned at 10.20am on Ash Grove in the Barrowcliff area of the town. The Peugeot 307 (registration number F57 KYY) has not yet been located.
Detective Constable Lucie Welford, of Scarborough CID, said: "I am appealing to anyone who witnessed the burglary or has seen the stolen Peugeot 307 since yesterday morning to contact the police as a matter of urgency.
"I would also like to speak to anyone who may have seen the Peugeot 207 being driven before it was left abandoned on Ash Grove or has any information that could help to identify the burglars.
DC Welford added: "I would suggest there wherever possible vehicles are stored in a securely locked garage. If this is not possible owners might want to consider using a steering or wheel locking device.
"Homeowners are reminded that they should also keep keys to vehicles and garages out of sight and in a secure place when not in use."
