Detectives are appealing for witnesses following a sneak-in burglary in Brafferton.
Sometime between 5.15pm and 6.15pm on Wednesday 15 February 2012, a thief entered a property on Chestnut Row through the front door and stole a handbag while the occupant was upstairs.
The black handbag contained cash, an iPhone and a digital camera.
Officers are appealing to anyone with information about the incident to come forward.
Detective Constable Lee Allenby, of Northallerton CID, said: "I am appealing to anyone who saw any suspicious people or vehicles in the village at the time of the offence to get in touch with the police or Crimestoppers.
"Clearly this kind of incident is very unsettling and I am keen to avoid it happening again, therefore I would urge residents to follow some simple crime prevention advice and keep all doors and windows locked even when at home."
Anyone who can help the investigation should contact North Yorkshire Police on 101 - select option 2 - and ask for DC Lee Allenby or Northallerton CID.
Alternatively, Crimestoppers can be contacted anonymously on 0800 555 111.
