Bus wheels stolen in Sherburn raid

Selby police are investigating after a large number of bus wheels were stolen from Sherburn Industrial Estate.

Incident

Sometime overnight between Friday 24 August and Saturday 25 August 2012 offenders entered the compound of Optare bus manufacturers and stole 36 brand new bus wheels fitted with tyres, from pallets near the warehouse loading bays.

The silver wheels are valued at several thousand pounds.

Officers have been making enquiries in the area, including examining CCTV footage and are now appealing for information from the public.

PC David Fulford, of Selby police, said: "This is an unusual theft and I am appealing to anyone with information that could help the investigation to come forward.

"If you saw any suspicious activity in the area of Sherburn Industrial Estate on the night of the offence, please contact the police or Crimestoppers as soon as possible.

"I would also like to hear from anyone who has been offered any of these wheels for sale in recent weeks."
