Officers have arrested four men from Leeds on suspicion of attempted theft from a vehicle during a police operation.
The men aged 22, 32 and two 33-year-olds were arrested just after 4.30am on Friday 14 September 2012, when the blue Vauxhall Astra they were travelling in was stopped by police at Scotch Corner. The arrests followed an attempted theft from a curtain-sided lorry parked at business premises in Leeming Bar, Northallerton, at around 3am earlier the same day.
All four currently remain in police custody.
Detective Constable Lee Allenby, of Northallerton CID, said: "The men were arrested as part of ongoing North Yorkshire Police operations focusing on vehicle crime and targeting travelling criminals.
"If you saw a blue Vauxhall Astra acting in a suspicious manner between 12am and 4.30am on Friday 14 September 2012, please contact the police or Crimestoppers straight away."
