Staff praised following Thirsk collision

Police were called following a collision in Thirsk Market Place at 9.15am on Friday 28 September 2012.

Collision

A red car driven by an elderly woman, mounted the pavement and struck a group of pedestrians outside the Co-operative store.

Four people, including a four-year-old girl, sustained minor injuries, none were detained in hospital.

Police officers and staff from the Co-operative store were on the scene in seconds to assist the pedestrians. Traffic Constable Chris Dundon of Thirsk police praised the actions of the staff who assisted at the scene.

He said: "The staff at the shop reacted very quickly to come to aid of the pedestrians, who thankfully did not sustain any serious injuries in the incident."

The shop front was undamaged.
