Appeal after fatal motorcycle collision

Craven police are appealing for witnesses following a fatal motorcycle collision in West Marton.

Collision

At around 4.35pm on Sunday 14 October 2012, two motorcycles were travelling along the A59 from Gisburn into North Yorkshire when one, a red Suzuki GSXR 600, collided with a red Volkswagen Golf before leaving the carriageway and hitting a tree.

The rider of the motorcycle, a 48-year-old man from Earby in Lancashire, was pronounced dead at the scene.

Officers are appealing to anyone who witnessed the collision to contact them with information.

Traffic Sergeant Pete Stringer, of Skipton Road Policing Group, said: "It is important that anyone who witnessed the collision comes forward with information as soon as possible.

"We need to establish the full circumstances around how this incident occurred and I also urge anyone who saw the two bikers prior to the collision to get in touch."

The second motorcycle was a black Honda CBR 600.

Anyone who can help officers with their enquiries is urged to contact North Yorkshire Police on 101 - select option 2 - and ask for Pete Stringer or Skipton Road Policing Group.
