Man injured in Harrogate attempted robbery

Harrogate police are appealing for witnesses after a man was injured during an attempted robbery.

The victim, a 66-year-old local man, was walking through the Regent's Terrace area of the town at around 12.10am on Saturday 27 October 2012 when he was approached by a man on a bicycle.

The cyclist attempted to steal the victim's bank card before assaulting him and running off.

The victim suffered injuries to his head, face and body in the incident and was taken to Harrogate District Hospital for treatment. His injuries are not believed to be life threatening.

The offender who was wearing a dark-coloured bomber jacket is described as white, aged between 20 and 30-years-old with short, brown curly hair.

Officers are appealing to anyone who witnessed the incident or knows who is responsible to contact them with information.
