I am investigating the impact of organised dog exercising areas. (see below details of some of these parks in your area).
Particularly since Covid, there has been an increase in the ownership of dogs.
Finding suitable area for walking dogs can be an issue and farmers are experiencing problems with sheep worrying, where public rights of way cross their land.
To help cater for this demand, a number of dog exercising areas have been open, mostly in rural areas.
However, they are not always welcomed with the National Sheep Association indicating that sites without sheep grazing next to them would be preferable.
There is a current planning application for proposed change of use of an agricultural field to a dog walking field, with associated gravel car parking area on a field at Railer Bank, Mickley which is proving controversial.( ZC23/02361/FUL) where some residents fear the opposite and are concerned there will be an impact on noise and an increase in sheep worry.
What I am asking you is whether over the last three years in North Yorkshire, there have been any prosecutions of any owners/ operators of these or any other exercising areas for sheep worrying?
