- The number of non-molestation orders, DVPNs and DVPOs that were issued/granted in each of the calendar years 2017, 2018, 2019, 2020 and 2021.
- The number of breaches of non-molestation orders, DVPNs and DVPOs in each of the calendar years 2017, 2018, 2019, 2020 and 2021.
- The number of arrests for breaching non-molestation orders, DVPNs and DVPOs in each of the calendar years 2017, 2018, 2019, 2020 and 2021.
- How many domestic homicides involved previous breaches of non-molestation orders, DVPNs and DVPOs involving the same offender and complainant/victim?
Please give figures for each of the calendar years 2017, 2018, 2019, 2020 and 2021.
Please breakdown the number and type of breaches by domestic homicide case.
Results
- North Yorkshire Police recorded the following number of DVPNs that were issued or DVPOs granted by the courts between 1 October 2018 and 31 December 2021. Please note data relating to the number of issued/granted DVPN and DVPOs prior to October 2018 is not centrally recorded and therefore to remain consistent and to allow an accurate comparison all data provided below is from 1 October 2018. Also, the figures in 2020 were affected due to the Covid19 pandemic, which may account for the total being lower than other calendar years.
In relation to non-molestation orders, they are not applied for by the police. Orders are applied for by the individual and the courts then decide whether to make the order. The police are only informed of non-molestation orders to be able to enforce any breaches. These are then recorded against the individual(s) involved and are not centrally recorded.
