FOI Special Police Services (0278-2022/23)

Thank you for your response to our FOI no. 142.2022-2023 submitted on 19 May 2022, in which you provided the details of each time North Yorkshire Police provided an individual or organisation special police services for charge, pursuant to Section 25(1) of the Police Act 1996.

We would be grateful if you could please now confirm whether these special police services provided to an individual or organisation for charge, pursuant to Section 25(1) of the Police Act 1996. included police armed with firearms or less lethal weapons in each instance.

Extent and Result of Searches to Locate Information

To locate the information relevant to your request searches were conducted within North Yorkshire Police. I can confirm that the information you have requested is held by North Yorkshire Police.

Decision

I have today decided to disclose the located information to you.

None of the SPS deployments or events listed included Police Officers armed with firearms. In relation to less lethal weapons, some of the officers present will have been carrying a Taser as part of their Police Protective Equipment in line with their core role.

Obtaining the number of officers who were carrying a Taser is not achievable within the time allowed under the Act, because of this we are unable to provde further information.
