FOI Stalking SPOC (0619-2022/23)

1) Whether your force has a SPOC (Single Point of Contact) to deal with/advise on stalking allegations

2) If so, how long the SPOC has been in post (specifically the role of SPOC on stalking – not their wider job as a whole)

3) The force’s total number of SPOCs for stalking (if the number is greater than one)

Extent and Result of Searches to Locate Information

To locate the information relevant to your request searches were conducted within North Yorkshire Police. I can confirm that the information you have requested is held by North Yorkshire Police.

Decision

I have today decided to disclose the located information to you.

1) North Yorkshire Police (NYP) has 2 dedicated Police Officer SPOCs to offer investigative advice and 2 Police Staff dedicated Stalking Victims officers to offer safeguarding advice. NYP do not have dedicated SPOCs who deal with Stalking Investigations, these are dealt with by Command based Officers.

2) The dedicated Police Officers have been in post for 8 months

3) NYP has a  Stalking Support Team of four (detailed above) who are able to advise and offer guidance on stalking allegations county wide.

Please note that systems used for recording information are not generic, nor are the procedures used locally in capturing the data.  It should be noted therefore that this force’s response to your questions should not be used for comparison purposes with any other responses you may receive.
