Request
Please could you inform me whether your force Learning and Development team provide specific training in trauma symptomatology to both police officers (regardless of role) and police staff in critical roles.
If you do, could you confirm
1) whether this is delivered by in-house trainers or by external companies
2) the length of training (i.e ½ a day / full day etc…)
3) whether this training is mandatory for staff
4) how long training in this area has been delivered (i.e since 2010 / since 2019 etc..)
Response
Extent and Result of Searches to Locate Information
To locate the information relevant to your request searches were conducted within North Yorkshire Police. I can confirm that the information you have requested is held by North Yorkshire Police.
Decision
I have today decided to disclose the located information to you.
North Yorkshire Police do not offer specific training on trauma symptomatology, however it is covered in the College of Policing training package ‘Look Beyond the Obvious’ which is delivered to all student PCDA officers and is available via the College of Policing to all other members of staff.
The Look Beyond the Obvious training is 1 day long and is delivered inhouse by trainers licensed to deliver the training by the College of Policing. This training has been available and delivered to students.
The training was mandatory for all staff.
