North Yorkshire Police is appealing for witnesses and information following a theft that occurred in Thirsk.
It happened at Aldi on Topcliffe Road at approximately 1.30pm on Saturday 20 November 2021. A male targeted a vehicle belonging to a female in her seventies. As the female went to return her trolley, the suspect stole her handbag from inside the vehicle.
The suspect is described as a white male, in his late 40s, 6ft 2, with a "wide build". He was dressed in black clothing and was also wearing a baseball cap. The suspect may have also had a second male working with him.
The handbag is described as a brown leather handbag and contained a black purse, that had approximately £60 in cash. The handbag also had several sentimental items belonging to the victim including rosary beads and photographs.
Police are requesting the public’s assistance to help establish the full circumstances surrounding the incident.
In particular, police are keen to speak to anyone who was parked in the car park at the time with dashcam footage.
