North Yorkshire Police is appealing for witnesses and information about an incident in which a woman was bitten by a dog.
It happened on the footpath near Heron Avenue and Teal Drive in the Foxwood area of York. The incident occurred at approximately 8am on Tuesday 12 April 2022 and involved a 74-year-old woman being bitten on the hand by one of two loose, unaccompanied dogs. The dog then headed off towards York Acorn Rugby club.
The victim was walking her dog with a friend and initially picked up her own dog to protect it before been bitten. Following the incident, the victim required medical treatment.
Police are requesting the public’s assistance to help establish the full circumstances surrounding the incident.
In particular, we are appealing for information about the dogs and their owners. The two dogs are described as being small, broad, “staffy” dogs. They had brown and white/ fawn and white markings.
