The 18-year-old man arrested in connection with a serious sexual assault on a woman in Memorial Gardens in York during the early hours of Thursday (16 June 2022) has been released on conditional police bail while enquiries continue.
The scene is now completely open to the public.

UPDATE: Man arrested in connection with serious sexual assault investigation in York
Police investigating a serious sexual assault on a woman in York have arrested an 18-year-old man in connection with the inquiry.
The incident, which happened at the Memorial Gardens off Leeman Road, was reported at 4.41am today (Thursday 16 June 2022).
The woman is receiving specialist support while police enquiries continue.
The location remains partially cordoned off to the public.
The suspect was arrested this (Thursday) afternoon and is currently being questioned in custody.
