Police were called at about 10pm on Saturday 6 May to a report of an incident in Gregory Close, Skelton.
Officers, including specially-trained firearms officers, attended immediately. They located a man with a stab wound to his shoulder - he was taken to hospital for treatment. The injury is not believed to be life-threatening.
A 36-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of wounding with intent. He was subsequently released on police bail while enquiries into the incident continue.
Officers from the Neighbourhood Policing Team will be on patrol in the area to provide reassurance to local residents.
