Police are appealing for witnesses and information after a man was dragged from his bike and seriously assaulted in Selby town centre.
At some point between 6.30-7.30pm on Saturday 10 June the man was cycling through the town centre when he stopped at some traffic lights on Gowthorpe. He was approached by a man and woman who dragged him off his bike into an alleyway, rifled his pockets and assaulted him. The victim was able to give a description of the man who he described as a small, thin male in his thirties. Unfortunately, at this time he has not been able to give a description of the woman.
The victim, a local man in his forties was taken to York District Hospital, where he was treated for his injuries.
Officers are requesting the public’s assistance to help establish the full circumstances surrounding the incident and are appealing for information. They’d particularly like to speak to anyone who came to the aid of the victim following the assault.
Local residents and business owners on, or near to Gowthorpe, who have CCTV or video doorbells or any drivers who were in the area who have dash cam footage that could assist with identifying the suspects are also asked to get in touch.
Please email [email protected] or call North Yorkshire Police on 101, select option 2, and ask for DC Neil Lancey.
