Officers were called to a report of two dogs fighting each other on Dodsworth Avenue, York, at about 1.10pm today.
Both dogs sustained injuries before people intervened to separate them. They have been taken to vets for further checks and treatment.
Their owners have been spoken to and police enquiries are ongoing.
Anyone with information about the incident, who hasn’t already spoken to officers at the scene, is asked to call North Yorkshire Police on 101, quoting reference NYP-15112023-0204.
