A woman who was arrested in connection with an investigation into anti-Semitic ‘tweets’ shared on X has been released under investigation whilst enquires continue.
She was arrested yesterday (Tuesday 20 February 2024) on suspicion of displaying threatening, abusive, or insulting written material with intent or likely to stir up racial hatred.
An investigation is underway however it is likely that enquires will take some time. Updates will be provided when appropriate.
Anyone with any information that can assist the investigation is asked to contact North Yorkshire Police on 101, quoting job number 12240031057.

She has been arrested on suspicion of displaying threatening, abusive or insulting written material with intent or likely to stir up racial hatred.
She remains in custody while enquiries continue.

Police investigating hate crime following anti-Semitic ‘tweets’

Racial and anti-Semitic tweets are being investigated by North Yorkshire Police.
The posts which were shared on X, formerly known as Twitter, are believed to have been shared between Wednesday 24 January and Sunday 18 February.
The force is investigating the incidents of hate crime and is appealing for anyone with information to come forward.
Neighbourhood Policing Inspector Nicola Colbourne, of Harrogate Neighbourhood Policing Team, said:
“North Yorkshire Police takes hate crime extremely seriously and we are committed to identifying those responsible.
“We are following all available lines of enquiry and would ask anyone who has any information that could support our investigation, other than seeing the tweets, to please come forward.”
