We're appealing for witnesses follolwing a a serious collision on Northallerton High Street on Tuesday 12 March.
It happened at around 8.15pm and involved a car and a pedestrian. The car, which is believed to be a small black hatchback, failed to stop and left the scene.
The 78-year-old pedestrian was taken to hospital where he remains in a critical condition.

A short time later, our officers attended another collision on Scholla Lane involving a vehicle that had flipped into a field.
Two men from the car were arrested on suspicion of causing serious injury by dangerous driving and failing to stop in connection to the collision on the High Street. They have been released under investigation while enquiries continue.
Update: a woman and another man have also been arrested in connection with the collision. They remain in custody at this time.
