We’re appealing for information after two sheep were found dead on Beckfield Lane, in Fairburn near Selby.
The incident happened between 12 and 13 July close to a public footpath that runs between Fairburn and Ledsham.
The two sheep were found 50 metres apart and the grass around both of them had been trampled.
We are appealing to anyone, including dog walkers who use the path, to contact us with any information that could help our investigation.
Please email [email protected] if you have any information that could help our investigation.
Alternatively, you can call North Yorkshire Police on 101, select option 2 and ask for Caroline Saville, or contact Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111 or via their website.

It is a criminal offence to allow a dog to worry sheep. Worrying includes attacking or chasing sheep and, in some circumstances, farmers are legally entitled to shoot dogs if they are endangering their sheep.
It is vital you keep your dog on the lead around sheep, even if you can usually trust it to come to call. If you live in or near a farming area, you must make sure your dog cannot escape from your property, as it may find its way onto land containing sheep.
