We are investigating a sexual assault on a woman in the Huntington area of York.
The incident happened while she was walking her dog along a footpath off Monkton Road, running along South Beck, at some time between 12am and 1.21am today (Wednesday 8 January 2025).
She was attacked by an unknown man who pushed her to the ground on a grassy mound.
The incident was reported to North Yorkshire Police at 1.21am. An extensive area search was carried out and detailed enquiries are ongoing in the effort to locate him.
The suspect is described as white man with a medium build who was wearing a tracksuit.
Anyone who believes they may know this man or have any information that could assist the investigation, please contact us without delay.
We are also urging residents in the local area to check their CCTV and doorbell cameras for any footage of people walking about between midnight and 1.21am today.
The victim is being supported by specially trained police officers while the investigation continues.
Patrols have been stepped up in the area to provide community reassurance.
