People in York city centre can be reassured that a suspected dangerous driver has been arrested following an incident this morning (Tuesday 14 December 2021).
A PCSO on patrol in Parliament Street spotted the car at 11.32am.
The driver was spoken to about a possible insurance offence.
However, he made-off in the vehicle in an area that was busy with pedestrians.
The car stopped on Spurriergate at 11.35am and the 21-year-old driver from Huddersfield, West Yorkshire, was arrested by Firearms Support Unit officers at 11.36am. He remains in custody for questioning.
We’re pleased to have brought the incident to a quick and safe conclusion.
We thank the public for their support and understanding while we were dealing with this potentially dangerous situation.
