UPDATE - 2.05pm Thursday 12 May 2022 -
The initial investigation into the death of a woman in her 40s in Albemarle Crescent in Scarborough on Monday 9 May, has concluded and we can now confirm that officers do not believe there are any suspicious circumstances surrounding her death.
The man who was arrested in connection with the incident has now been released from the investigation with no further action taken against him.
A report will now be prepared for the Coroner to inform a future inquest.
UPDATE - 10.30 Wednesday 11 May 2022 - The man who was arrested has been released under investigation. Enquries are continuing.
Police are investigating the circumstances of a woman’s death in Scarborough.
Officers were called at around 5.25pm on Monday 9 May when a member of the public saw a woman on the fourth-storey ledge of a property in Albemarle Crescent.
A short time later, the woman, who was aged in her 40s, was seen to fall from the ledge and sadly sustained fatal injuries.
The investigation is in the early stages and police are working to establish the exact circumstances that led to her death.
A man has been arrested as part of the investigation and remains in police custody for questioning.
At the time of the incident, the road was closed to allow emergency service to attend the incident. It reopened at around 9.15pm.
The road was then also temporarily closed again this lunchtime (Tuesday 10 May 2022) to allow investigation work to continue.
