The man arrested on suspicion of conspiracy to commit murder has been released from bail with no further action being taken against him.

Update Issued Monday, 27 June 2022

The woman who was arrested in connection with this incident has now been charged with attempted murder and remanded to appear at court.

The man has been bailed while the investigation continues.

 

Update Issued Friday, 24 June, 2022

A man and a woman have been arrested following an incident on Byland Road, Harrogate yesterday evening (Thursday, 23 June)

Officers were called to a residential property just before 5pm by paramedics after it was reported a woman had received substantial injuries, believed to have been inflicted by a blade. The woman was taken to hospital for treatment where she remains.

There was a large police presence in the area while emergency crews treated the victim, searched for those involved and obtained evidence which will assist with the investigation into the incident.

Senior Investigating Officer Detective Chief Inspector Jonathan Sygrove, said: “We have arrested two people in connection with this offence and we now believe the incident was isolated with no further risk to the wider public. We hope this goes some way to reassure the residents of Byland Road and the surrounding areas.

“We would like to thank those who have assisted us with our enquiries so far but would continue to urge anyone with information to contact us as a matter of urgency.”

A woman in her 40s has been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder and a man in his 40s has been arrested on suspicion of conspiracy to commit murder. They both remain in police custody.

Officers are currently in attendance at a property on Byland Road following an incident earlier this evening.

The investigation is currently in the early stages and we will issue an update in due course.
