Police can now confirm that the pedestrian has sadly died following the collision.
The 77-year-old old pedestrian was walking through Lidl carpark in Northallerton when a Volkswagen ID3 in black collided with him.
Police have renewed their appeal for any witnesses who have not yet come forward, or anyone who has dashcam footage.
Anyone with information is asked to come forward and to either contact North Yorkshire Police on 101, select option 1 and speak to the Force Control Room or contact the officer in case DC 918 Ed Drake on [email protected]

A man has suffered serious injuries during a collision in the Lidl store car park in Northallerton.
North Yorkshire Police were called at around 1.35pm on the afternoon of Monday 8 August following the collision that involved a car and a male pedestrian.
The injured pedestrian, who is aged in his 70s, was taken by air ambulance to James Cook Hospital in Middlesbrough where he remains with serious injuries.
Anyone who witnessed the incident or has dashcam footage of the incident and has not yet spoken to the police should call 101 and pass information for incident 12220139886.
The driver of the car involved has been interviewed under caution.
