Mischief Night in Ripon

Police in Ripon are working with local shops to deter criminal damage and anti-social behaviour on Mischief Night on 4 November.

The initiative aims to prevent young people from purchasing items such as eggs and flour which, in previous years, have been thrown against people’s homes, vehicles and other property.

Officers have been visiting retailers and have put posters up making it clear such behaviour will not be tolerated in the run-up to Mischief Night and on the night itself.

PC Phil Evans, of the Ripon Neighbourhood Policing Team, said:

“We hope this action will be received positively within the local community and we urge parents and guardians to make sure young people are aware of this initiative in partnership with local businesses.”
