Two teenagers from Doncaster have been arrested following a number of incidents in Northallerton.
Officers were called in the early of hours of 30 November to a number of reports of damage to businesses on the High Street, including fire and damage caused to the British Heart Foundation shop, Crew Clothing and an attempt to set fire to a banner outside the town hall.
The two teenagers, a boy aged 15 and a girl aged 14, were arrested in the Applegarth area and taken into police custody where they remain at this time.
The pair were arrested on suspicion of burglary, arson and criminal damage. The boy was also arrested on suspicion of vehicle interference and theft from a vehicle after a car was found damaged on Bullamoor Road.
Officers received a number of reports from members of the public and thank those people for reporting the information.
Anyone who has not already spoken to the police and saw any suspicious activity is asked to call Northallerton police on 101.
