The identity of the man who was found at Selby Dam Pumping Station yesterday (Wednesday 28 December 2022) has now been confirmed. His family have been informed and are being supported by officers.
Enquiries are on going to establish the circumstances around his death, which is currently being treated as unexplained.

Police are continuing to investigate the sudden death of a man in Selby.
This is currently being treated as an unexplained death. Enquiries are continuing to establish the full circumstances.
The cordon has now been stood down.

Shortly after 9.30am today (Wednesday 28 December 2022) police received reports of a body which was found at Selby Dam Pumping Station.
The body is yet to be identified.
Police, ambulance and fire are currently in attendance at the incident.
Officers are asking that members of the public avoid the area.
Enquiries are ongoing and further updates will be provided when available.
