Officers, PCSOs, Special Constables, staff and volunteers came together and paraded and patrolled in the sunshine at York Pride on Saturday (3 June 2023)
Joining blue light colleagues from Yorkshire Ambulance Service and North Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service, the force showed its support for the LGBTQ community of North Yorkshire and the City of York.
Chief Constable Lisa Winward also took part and gave a short message about why it's important that policing plays a part in the annual event.
Sadly, we know that the LGBTQ community can be targeted with hate crime and that LGBTQ hate crime is a hugely under reported crime.
By taking part in Pride events, North Yorkshire Police shows its support for the LGBTQ community and spreads the message that the force will not tolerate anyone being targeted with abuse or criminal activity because of their sexual orientation, or race, religion, gender identity or disability.
If you have been targeted with hate, you can report it on 101 or online. In an emergency always dial 999.
Here's to York Pride 2024.
