UPDATE 22 February 2024 – Fourth person charged with criminal damage following protest at Kirby Sigston
A fourth man has been charged with criminal damage following protest activity at the Prime Minister’s home on 3 August 2023.
He is due appear at York Magistrates’ Court on Thursday 21 March 2024 alongside the two women and another man who were charged on Tuesday.
UPDATE 20 February 2024 - Three charged with criminal damage following protest at Kirby Sigston
A man and two women have been charged with criminal damage following protest activity at the Prime Minister’s home on 3 August 2023.
They are due appear at York Magistrates’ Court on Thursday 21 March 2024.
A fourth suspect will answer bail at a later date.
UPDATE 6.55am 4 August 2023
All five suspects who were arrested following the protest in Kirby Sigston on 3 August, have been released on conditional police bail to allow for further enquiries to be carried out. The investigation remains ongoing.
UPDATE 2.51pm - Further update
Officers on the ground have made a fifth arrest in connection with this incident.
A man has been arrested on suspicion of causing public nuisance. He currently remains in police custody.
UPDATE 2.20pm - Conclusion of protest in Kirby Sigston
A protest at the Prime Minister’s residence at Kirby Sigston has now concluded.
North Yorkshire Police was made aware at 08:06 (03 August 2023) this morning of a number of protesters climbing onto the roof of the Prime Minister's home in Kirby Sigston.
A large cordon was put in place and specialist police liaison officers were used to bring the protesters down from the roof of the property shortly before 1pm.
Four people, two men and two women, have been arrested on suspicion of causing criminal damage and public nuisance. They currently remain in police custody.
Assistant Chief Constable of North Yorkshire Police, Elliot Foskett commented:
“ Shortly after 8am this morning we responded swiftly to reports of protest activity at the Prime Ministers North Yorkshire address.
“There was no threat to the wider public throughout this incident which has now been brought to a safe conclusion.
“The Prime Minster and his family were not at the address at the time of the incident.”
UPDATE 11am Thursday 03 August 2023
North Yorkshire Police was made aware at 08:06 (03 August 2023) this morning of a number of protesters climbing onto the roof of the Prime Minister's home in Kirby Sigston.
Officers have contained the area and no one has entered the building.
At present there are four protesters on the roof of the property.
The PM and his family are not at home.

We are responding to reports of protest activity at a property in Kirby Sigston, near Northallerton.
North Yorkshire Police officers are at the scene and managing the situation. A further update will be provided in due course.
