Officers in Skipton, who were following up reports of a strange smell emanating from a unit on Engine Shed Lane, discovered a large-scale cannabis farm in operation on Wednesday 18 October.
On gaining entry to the premises, they discovered hundreds of cannabis plants growing in three internal rooms, with a street value likely to be worth hundreds of thousands of pounds. The scale of the operation indicates that this is an organized crime.
One suspect was detained at the scene whilst attempting to escape through a fire door. He has now been charged and remanded into custody with one other man being arrested and released under investigation.
The cannabis farm has now been locked down.
