Ramadan Mubarak to all of our friends, families, colleagues and communities celebrating this month
Last night, our Acting Chief Constable Elliot Foskett, Temporary Deputy Chief Constable Scott Bisset, and Temporary Assistant Chief Constable Catherine Clarke, visited York Mosque and Islamic Centre alongside the Archbishop of York and his wife Rebecca.
They were there to break the fast at the Iftar meal which Muslims share each day during the holy month of Ramadan.
Muslims across the world fast from food and water from dawn until sunset for 30 days.
The month will finish with Eid-al-Fitr, the “festival of the breaking of the fast" which is likely to fall on Wednesday 10 April.
It’s always a wonderful opportunity for us to visit York Mosque during this special time.
We have a really positive relationship with the Mosque and events like this give us the chance to come together, strengthen our understanding and deepen that relationship further.
We look forward to visiting again, and wish members of our Muslim communities, peace and fulfilment during this special month.
