Here’s a great bit of work by an eagle-eyed Roads Policing Group officer on the A168 at Topcliffe near Thirsk.
Just before 1am on Thursday (4 April 2024), Traffic Constable Peter Keenen pulled over a white Ford Transit van with a trailer that was loaded with a damaged white Ford Transit van.
TC Keenen was concerned about the load security and the weight on the trailer.
He inspected the vehicle and discovered the following offences:
The vehicle was seized due to the tax offence and an immediate PG9 prohibition notice issued. This means the vehicle cannot be driven on a public road until the defects have been fixed.
The van and trailer were recovered to a calibrated weighbridge and was found to be 1.2 tonnes overweight.
The driver, who is from Middlesbrough, has been reported to court for these offences along with using a vehicle in a dangerous condition
TC Keenen said: “Improving road safety is our mission and it’s vital that vehicles are suitable for the purpose they are being used for.
“In this instance, the van’s steering, stability and braking were adversely affected and posed a clear danger to the driver himself and other road users.
“It’s satisfying that another dangerous vehicle has been taken off our roads.”
