Once again, we will be at this year’s Great Yorkshire Show alongside our colleagues from North Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service and the Commissioner’s office between Tuesday 09 and Friday 12 July 2024.
Our stand number is 330 which is located by the gold gate. We will be offering advice and information about various issues with a focus on rural crime. Visitors will have the chance to see the police tractor, which is kindly loaned by Ripon Farm Services. The tractor will be used to highlight the support that we can provide to farmers with issues such as livestock worrying or the theft of GPS systems from tractors. The team will also have free Selecta DNA marking kits which will be available for all North Yorkshire farmers.
If you're interested in joining the police, then our officers and staff will be happy to talk about the application process and current vacancies within North Yorkshire Police.
As well as having a presence on the stand we will also deploy plain clothed and uniformed officers to help ensure that the show remains safe, friendly and a crime-free environment.
Sergeant David Lund from our Rural Task Force said: “We will utilise our stand to engage with the farmers and people from rural communities. It’s an opportunity for people to interact with us and discuss issues that matter to them.
“The police tractor is always popular with children and we have lots of ways for everyone to get involved.
“We’re hoping to make this year our best yet and show that we are listening and take rural crime seriously”.
Inspector Nicola Colbourne, from the Harrogate Neighbourhood policing team said:
"We are absolutely delighted to be back at the Great Yorkshire Show this year and we're looking forward to meeting all the visitors who make their way along to our stand.
“Our neighbourhood policing team will be there, and we'd love to have the opportunity to listen to your concerns and share with you the work that we do to keep communities safe and feeling safe."
Jo Coles, Deputy Mayor for Policing, Fire and Crime, for York and North Yorkshire said:
“The Great Yorkshire Show is a brilliant celebration of our region and I'm looking forward to attending with the Mayor to meet residents to discuss people's concerns and priorities.
“It's also a chance to find out about my work as Deputy Mayor and North Yorkshire Police and North Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service who do such important work to keep us all safe.
“Please come along to stand 328 near the Golden Gate if you want to find out more."
