Three men were arrested and a stolen car was recovered by officers on patrol in Selby last night (10 July).
At around 9.30pm, sharp-eyed officers spotted a potentially cloned vehicle that was travelling on the A19 in the Whitley area,
When the car, a blue Fiesta, failed to stop the officers decided to use the stinger to halt its progress.
However despite the car’s tyre being stung, as well as being pursued by a patrol car with sirens and blue lights flashing, it continued to be driven until coming to a natural stop.
The car was discovered to be a stolen motor vehicle from West Yorkshire.
The three occupants, two 20-year-old men and one 18-year old-man, were all arrested on the spot for ‘theft of a motor vehicle’.
The driver, a 20-year-old man from Doncaster, was also found to be disqualified from driving, so was arrested for ‘driving whilst disqualified’ and ‘failing to stop for police’. He was also wanted in connection to a previous burglary in Goole.
The driver put himself, his passengers and the public at risk by driving whilst banned and engaging officers in a pursuit through a residential area.
The quick-thinking actions of the officers involved have helped to make North Yorkshire's streets safer.
The three men remain in police custody whilst investigations continue.
