Two men are in custody after a new police team aimed at disrupting serious and organised crime made its first arrests.
The officers were targeting a ‘County Lines’ drug supply line believed to be running into York from Bradford.
Investigative work culminated in officers travelling to Bradford this morning, and executing a warrant at a property in the city.
Two men were arrested on suspicion of being concerned in the supply of a Class A drug. They were taken into custody, where they remain at this time.
The Operation Sentry team operates in plain clothes and unmarked cars, and has a range of specialist skills – all aimed at disrupting organised crime groups.
A spokesperson for North Yorkshire Police said: “We see first-hand the misery that is inflicted by ‘County Lines’ drugs gangs on our communities in York and North Yorkshire. That’s why we’re relentless in our efforts to target organised crime groups, and safeguard vulnerable people.”
