Yesterday afternoon (Thursday 17 October 2024) we received a report from a member of the public stating that a person was in possession of a weapon in York city centre.
CCTV operators worked alongside officers on the ground to conduct an area search.
At approximately 4pm officers located three boys on Bootham and recovered two bladed articles close by.
A 16-year-old boy was arrested on suspicion of affray and being concerned in the supply of a class- a drug. A second boy who is also 16 was arrested on suspicion of affray, being concerned in the supply of a class- a drug and possession of an offensive weapon in a public place. A third boy who is 17 was also arrested on suspicion of affray and being concerned in the supply of a class- a drug.
They currently remain in police custody.
