Last night, officers responded to a report from a resident in the Scarborough area about their vehicle being stolen from their driveway.
A short time later, local officers spotted the vehicle being driven away from Scarborough.
After noticing our presence, the driver sped off, colliding with a parked car in the process.
Although the car was lost from sight, our officers remained determined and relocated it abandoned on Main Street.
A 29-year-old man from Scarborough was found nearby in possession of a balaclava, Xanax, cannabis, and an On-Board Diagnostics (OBD) device.
He was arrested on suspicion of theft of a motor vehicle; going equipped for theft; dangerous driving; and possession of Class B and Class C drugs.
Once in custody, he was also further arrested for cultivating a Class B drug after a cannabis grow was located at a property earlier this month.
He remains in custody for questioning.
Brilliant teamwork and persistence from everyone involved.
