We dealt with an incident involving shoplifting and assault on Northallerton town centre on Saturday (21 December).
A man had reportedly stolen some items from shops on the High Street, assaulted staff and then tried to drive away.
The suspect made off on foot after quick-thinking drivers tried to box him in. But we soon caught up with him and he was in custody before he knew it.
Thank you to the community for their help with this one!
The man in his 40s who is local was later released on bail as the investigation continues.
